New American Battleships: Slow, big and a hard hit

Afbeelding
Ok, that is our opinion, for now, so thank you for stopping by and have a nice day. Nah not really, but in a nutshell that is what it seems like for now. So what happened here. We are presented with a split in the tech tree for American Battleships after tier VII Colorado, with three new ships and a premium tier VII they are Kansas, Minnesota, and Vermont, did I mention the tier VII premium Florida? Well at first glance these ships seem to be heavy in firepower, looking at the Alpha damage, but with a 40 second reload this will be a difficulty to make a difference in the game. And this even comes with a cost of low survivability with its slow speed and thin armor. Ok, so you like to stay at range and shoot things with big guns? [once every 40 seconds] Then you are in luck my friend with these ships, for now, it does not seem to be a ship you can play alone, and it does not look like you can defend a flank, but maybe in there is its strength. You will have to play in division or teams...

Puerto Rico: The Good, Bad and VERY Ugly

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week, you have probably have had some exposure to the latest WarGaming debacle – the Puerto Rico. While there are many “opinions” on this particular matter, as there have been on previous PR [public relations] related issues for WarGaming, I have never seen so many opinions that are so similar and are share by such a large portion of the community, including CC’s. With that being said, I would like to add my $0.02 to the matter starting with the VERY Ugly VERY U g There is nothing worse in this whole fiasco than the deception that was used in portraying the Puerto Rico as an obtainable ship for those   willing   to put in the time. I emphasize willing here as there are many that would be willing to put in the time to obtain a free ship, and when it was originally mention in news on the World of Warships website that’s how it seemed. Now, there were no illusions of grandeur in terms of the grind required to obtain a tier 10 ...

DISPERSION & SIGMA – DEBUNKED

Afbeelding
This article will try to debunk the commonly used terms of Dispersion & Sigma to describe a ships accuracy. While the World of Warships Wiki actually does a great job at describing these two terms in depth (Check it out  here ), I want to try and make it a little easier to understand as well as ‘correct’ a few terms that are used as well as provide some clarification. DISPERSION In short, dispersion is the value used to describe the horizontal (and vertical – though the only value listed in port is horizontal) distance in which shells are expected to disperse at a range. The value in port represents the maximum horizontal dispersion for the maximum range of the ship. An example of this is the Montana has a maximum dispersion of 296m at 23.65km. So in this instance, when you fire your Montana shells at a broadside target locked (very important) ship at max range, the left most shell and the right most shell will be, at max, 296m apart. 1  This does not mean that there will ...

Specing Your Ship

There are so many things to look at when you start specing out a new ship; from the captain skills, to the modules, to the flags. All totaled, there are probably thousands of different combinations of these 3 groups to consider when setting up a new boat but in this guide, I will help some of you newer players, and perhaps some of you veteran players, narrow down the possibilities based upon a few considerations: play styles, both personal and ship, ship type, and individual ship specs. Play Styles Play styles can be broken down into two parts – personal and ship. In regards to each, a ship’s play style may compliment a player’s play style, that is not always so the other way around. Further to that point, often times a personal play style has to change in order to succeed in a certain meta. With all that said, let’s break down the two play style categories (if you will) and how they can effect how you spec a ship Personal In either play style – personal or ship – a single...

World of Warships:The Grind

World of Warships is a demanding game – in more ways than one. For the purpose of today’s discussion, I will focus on the time demands that the game has on players and what that all entails. by SnipeySnipes INTRODUCTION There are a multitude of reasons why this game is so demanding on players time. While no one  makes  anyone play this game, the incentives certainly draw many of us in like moths to a lantern. These, of course, include ‘freebies’ like doubloons, coal, ships, containers, captains, etc. Camaraderie, like what one can find in a good clan as well as certain accolades across several platforms both sponsored directly by Wargaming and World of Warships as well as other sites such as those focus on stats. While most, if not all of this doesn’t have to cost you a penny, it will cost you hours upon hours of time to achieve. This is a ‘grindy’ game after all. THE GRIND To dive more into what players grind for, I’ll start with the basic premise of the game – going up the t...
